About Sarah Shaw
My story
Hello! Welcome to Sarah Shaw Floral Design, a studio in Westport, Connecticut.
I am a lifelong flower enthusiast. My design style reflects the seasons. Flower selection, color blending and attention to loose and graceful form are the basis of every arrangement I create. Scenes in Nature, from a field of wildflowers to a rambling country hedgerow to an abundant peony garden inspire me and fill my palette.
After an early career in interior decorating as a magazine editor and stylist at House Beautiful, I transitioned into the enchanting world of floristry when my two daughters went off to college.
With a discerning eye for design and a passion for flowers, I attended Flower School New York and received a professional certificate in 2016. Afterwards, I spent several years freelancing for a handful of notable Connecticut florists. It was during this time that my floristry skills and love of weddings and events really took off! I assisted Peter Stephens of Elegant Effects in Southport, CT until 2021. In 2022, I established Sarah Shaw Floral Design.
I’m always excited to learn and share new approaches to floral design. I’ve attended workshops with master florists Ariella Chezar and Nicolette Camille.
I also lead my own floral workshops; bouquets, centerpieces and Holiday wreaths are very popular and always so much fun!
Working with clients to bring their visions to life is my ultimate aim, so let’s get started!
